The Girl That Once Lived in a Tree

There once was a girl who lived in a tree.

She befriended the flowers, birds and bees

and talked to the ants and spiders

that crawled along beside her.

She read books and sang songs

and went on magical journeys that were long.

When tired, she nestled in under the nests

and allowed her fears and worries to rest.

When the Tree spoke to her, she listened,

sometimes aware of the tree’s tears as they glistened.

The Tree was wise

and knew of the girl's dreams

and allowed her to be without disguise.

She beamed

bright as the moon,

and strong as the sun.

No fears loomed

for the girl trusted The One.

In the branches and trunks of the Tree

the girl allowed herself to be,

ever so happily.

There once was a girl that lived in a tree.

Trees are sanctuaries. Whoever knows how to speak to them, whoever knows how to listen to them, can learn the truth. They do not preach learning and precepts, they preach, undeterred by particulars, the ancient law of life.
